I was questioned to throw my friend’s baby shower for her…?

I just had my first baby and I didn’t question anyone to throw me a shower… one of my best friends (not this one) questioned to throw it for me, and did a spectacular job… I feel kind of weird that this girl questioned me to throw it. I’m honored and pleased to do it for her, but my husband and I honestly just don’t have the money to spend on throwing a party/providing food for everyone. She already seems like she’s going to be a small demanding and high maintenance, too! (She wants to have a bunch of specific games, including decorating onesies which is way cute, but again, means spending money.) Any thoughts for a cheap shower that won’t disappoint her? And anyone else reckon it’s weird to be questioned to throw a shower? :) Thanks.

We’re doing a BBQ Baby Shower for my BFF at a local spring. To rent a pavilion it was like 10 bucks for locals, and bubba burgers and Purdue perfect parts is cheap enough food. You can question others to bring watermelon and potato salad and chips and stuff.
All you need is a spool of yarn, some pieces of paper and pens, and a baby bottle with some candies for games – not too much, right?
Have people tell amusing tales about the mommy to be, and set plenty of time for gift opening.
Your local (grocery store) baker can make a half sheet cake for about 20 dollars.
If you start putting aside your change now you can have 100 bucks in a couple of months – it adds up quick.
I know it can be tough when money is tight, but you can always co-host – get in touch with other friends and family of hers to help you out. That’s what I’m doing! Co-hosting with her mom and sis – But I do the most of it!! It’s fun!!

Help with a Baby Shower Game?

“(Materials: piggy bank, name tags) Before the baby shower, make name tags for the guests. The names have to be baby-related like pacifier, circumcision, dirty diaper, burp rag, etc. Place all the name tags in a bag and as the guests arrive, each will draw a name out of the bag and place it on their shirts. This will be their name for the rest of the baby shower. If anyone calls the guests by their REAL name, then they have to place a quarter or just loose change in the baby’s piggy bank. By the end of the party, the baby has a fantastic amount of money for their first piggy bank.”

This is one of the games that we will be playing at the Baby Shower. I need to come up with 30 – 40 baby-related names, like the ones listed above. Whoever lists the most names, and stays on track, will get Best Answer.

I’ve been to 3 baby showers within the month and they all played the same word scramble games etc…..I want to do something unique or different for my games. Any thoughts or websites with free info?

6. Guess who
Instruct guests to bring a baby photo of themselves to the shower. Place all photos in a focal point, such as the coffee table, and have guests try to match each baby photo to the guest they belong to. The winner is the person with most right guesses.

8. I’m going on a trip/I’m going to the delivery room
An ancient favorite game played on long bus rides. Play the baby version by having a guest (or yourself) start out by saying something along the lines of “I’m taking baby on a trip…” or “I’m going to the delivery room” and I’m bringing…then name a baby item (or a regular item if you find naming all baby items too hard) that starts with A, like applesauce. The next person would repeat what the first person said, and add a B item “I’m taking baby on a trip and I’m bringing applesauce and a bib…”. If a guest finds they cannot remember all the previous items, or cannot reckon of one for their letter, they are out of the game. This gets VERY hard the further into the alphabet you get! Award a prize to the last person still in the game.

1. Pin the diaper on the baby –
using a large posterboard and a magic marker, draw a large picture of a baby. On a separate piece of paper, draw and cut out a picture of a diaper (or bottle, pacifier, rattle, etc) and stick double sided tape on the back. Blindfold your guests and have them try to stick the bottle on the baby’s bottom. The person closest to the intended target wins.

2. Pin the diaper on the baby boy –
This is a gag game, so make sure mom-to-be is in a mood to be messed with before attempting. Set the game up the same as above, only this time question mother-to-be (or daddy-to-be or anyone else you’d like to play a joke on) to go first. After putting on the blindfold, have someone sneak up on mom and spray her with a small water gun, to prepare her for the “surprises” we get when changing a baby boy’s diaper!

11. Baby hot potato
Played the same as the traditional hot potato game, only using a baby doll or stuffed animal as the potato. Start a timer and have guests pass the baby around the circle, and whomever is holding the baby when the timer sounds is out. Last person in the game wins.
Variation – instead of having the person holding the baby be out of the game, make them give a bit of advice, or tell a special memory about the parents-to-be

16. Don’t drop baby (water balloon toss)
Certainly best as an outdoor game. Fill up water balloons (several for each guest) and have each guest pick a partner (fantastic for couples parties). Partners take turns tossing the water balloons back and forth trying not to drop them. Prize awarded to the couple who goes longest without dropping all their babies.

32. Bobbing for pacis
Fill a large container with water or substance such as pudding or oatmeal. Place several pacifiers inside the water/mixture and without using their hands, have guests try to retrieve as many as possible with their mouths.

Picture of a baby, feeding bottle, etc). The person/team who finds the most frog princes, wins the game.

Another game thought is a rendition of the well loved game Pin the tail on the donkey. But, instead of a donkey, you will have a drawing of a frog, and instead of a tail, what you will have is a pacifier, which each of your guest will pin on the frog’s mouth. Everybody should be blindfolded when they play this game, of course.

People do baby showers in anticipation of the newborn baby. This is usually done by a group of close friends of the future mother to be. Such events are mainly for gift giving which make it awkward for a family member of the mother to be to host such an event.

This can be done a month or two before the arrival of the baby or right after the baby is born.

Invitations should symbolize the birth of the future baby. One can get an invitation that has been made by a card company but for it to be special, it is best to choose the design then have it custom made.

Just like any other invitation, it should have the name of the person to be invited, when and where the event will take place, the contact number of the one hosting the event, the gender of the baby and the theme of the party.

The invitations should be given out a month to a month and half prior to the event. This will give people time to make plans for that day and pick the right gift.

Since the party has to have a theme, there are many to choose from and it all depends on the gender of the baby.

If it is a boy, an example of a excellent theme is a sailboat. The place can be setup with all sorts of boats both huge and small. The punch bowl used for the cocktail can also have one that has a centerpiece. The most vital thing for this kind of theme is the name of the baby which can be highlighted using an inner tube or any other object that will suit the occasion.  

If it is a girl, an example of a excellent theme is a cookie. The theme is based on the poem that tells how small girls are made which usually come from sugar and spice and everything nice.  It is like have a tea party with lot of cookies around as well as cooking recipes and jars with various ingredients like chocolate chip and peanuts. The name of the girl can be highlighted in the form of a giant cookie.  

What if the parents have not chose on the name of the baby yet? This too can be another excellent thought. The baby shower can help the parents choose on the baby’s name. The place can be decorated with letters of the alphabet and games can be made to help people reckon of possible names.

Some parents don’t want to know the gender of the baby until the baby comes out. Others keep the guests in suspense. Another thought for a party is only letting the people the sex of the baby at the party. An ultrasound can be brought in so everyone will be able to find out all together what the baby is.

Another way to have fun is to let the guests play a Girl or Boy Quiz. The questions are designed to determine the sex of the baby.  

There are other thoughts and themes to make the shower a memorable occasion. It just takes some plotting and small imagination to make this baby shower stand out over others that people have gone to.

The host can do alone, plot it with other friends or get a professional to help out.

Baby Shower Thoughts…?

I am thinking of having kind of a luncheon baby shower. I want regular baby shower things but I also want a huge potluck lunch. Nearly all of my friends are pregnant so i know they are going to appreciate the food and god knows i eat all the time. (SORRY IM RAMBLING) The question is… what are some fun games to play at a baby shower?

The diaper game

small handmade diapers out of tissue and one of them is “dirty” with chocolate…(they get one at the door) Not really a game but fun.

Guess moms waist use string or something like that let all guests cut how huge they reckon mom is and whoever’s the closest wins.

baby food game remove ALL tags from the food. 10 cans or so give each person enough spoons for each different type…(NO DBL DIPPING) they write down what they reckon whoever gets the most wins.

Also the plate game have a large platter with tons of different items or a paper with things written on it…everyone gets 2 minutes to try to remember everything on the list or plate and writes them down whoevers has the most wins…

we did it changed it up a bit you know got them all Huge prize got Most a med. so on.

I used to know tons sorry I am blanking!!!!!!!!!

1. Have people come up with a baby word for every letter of the alphabet. The one w/ the most wins
ex: B is for baby, D is for drool, etc

2. Guess the baby item- blindfold a person, and have them touch a baby item, and make them guess what it is.

3. Baby-bingo: self explanatory

4. End the baby rhyme- the host will say part of a nursery rhyme and choose a person to end it. if they end it, they win.

5. Bottle race- fill up a baby bottle and have people compete. whoever drinks it the fastest wins

and lastly, you could place baby blocks on the cake.. blue and pink or pink and purple.. whatever sounds girly-ish. or you could do a care bear theme..
